The Camino. The journey of a lifetime...

The Camino. The journey of a lifetime...

25 April 2026 up to 25 October 2026

On 25 April 2026, Museum Krona will open a major exhibition on the phenomenon known as ‘the Camino’. Step into the world of the pilgrim and experience for yourself the famous route from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela. During this special exhibition, you’ll follow the path in a playful way via a game of the Goose, in which the 63 squares represent and symbolise the route. Each participant follows a different path, meets other players and makes the exhibition their own experience, just as it happens on the ‘real Camino’. Along the way, you’ll encounter (art) objects, personal stories, videos and photography. Together, they show that the Camino is a vibrant, multifaceted and timeless experience that continues to inspire people. The exhibition has been developed in close collaboration with the Dutch Society of Saint James and the Camino Academy.

Programme of activities

Krona’s Camino

To coincide with the exhibition, we are also launching Krona’s own Camino: a guidebook featuring four walking routes through the Maashorst nature reserve and the surrounding area, with the museum as the starting and finishing point. Each route features a rest stop or stamp point, and upon completing one or more routes, you can collect a unique pilgrim’s badge from the Krona’s museum shop. The route guide will be on sale in the museum shop from 25 April.

Camino Xpress

We’ve also thought of young walkers! In collaboration with the art and culture platform Kunst & Co, the children’s route Camino Xpress has been mapped out around the museum. Along the way, you’ll come across the most beautiful signposts and artworks created by pupils of all ages from Maashorst as part of the Xpress art programme. Pick up a small backpack in advance at the museum, containing route instructions, task cards and items you’ll need along the way for various activities and games. Have you completed the entire route? Then hand in the backpack and receive a unique pilgrim’s badge as a reward.

Stay up to date

For six months – from 25 April to 25 October – various activities will be organised that fit within the ‘Camino’ theme. These include inspirational afternoons with the Camino Academy, creative workshops, dinners and a ‘Speaker’s Corner’, where people can share their own Camino experiences in the museum. Keep an eye on the website for the full programme of activities!
